Meet Our SEE TrainersDawn Frieson – SEE Trainer
Dawn Frieson is the Director of Student Employment Services (SES) at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). Dawn brings over 20 years’ HR experience spanning the private, public and non-profit sectors. SES supports the BGSU community as the University’s centralized human resource office for student employees by educating employers and students as to the value of employment as an integral part of students’ overall educational experience at BGSU. Dawn has been a SEE Trainer since 2016 and has presented at several NSEA/MASEA conferences.
Stefanie Rich – SEE Trainer
Stefanie Rich is a professional with 25 years of human resources and payroll experience. She has worked at the University of Dayton for 20 years, spending 12 years in Human Resources and 8 years in Student Employment. She has provided assistance to employees in the areas of benefits, staffing, compensation, Banner, and Handshake. Since 2017, she has been a Student Employment Essentials trainer for NSEA. She enjoys connecting with peers and sharing her accumulative knowledge on Student Employment with them.
Kelly Wentz – SEE Trainer
Kelly Wentz manages the on-campus student employment operations at Gonzaga University. As the Associate Director of Student Employment at Gonzaga University, she enjoys talking with students on the benefits of working while in school and assisting them in being work-force ready after their time in college. Kelly earned her Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Gonzaga University in 2016 and her Bachelor of Arts in English from Northwest Nazarene University in 2001. In her spare time, she enjoys puzzles, reading and spending quality time with her family!
Desiree Noah – National SEE Trainer
Desiree Noah is the Director of Human Resources and Title IX Coordinator at Clatsop Community College and has over 15 years’ HR experience within the private and public higher education setting. She earned her M.B.A in Human Resources from La Sierra University in 2010 and her B.F.A. in Fine Arts also from La Sierra in 2002. She has been a SEE Trainer since 2016 and a National Trainer since 2020.
Nedra Goodrich – National SEE Trainer
Nedra began her 29 year career with Texas Tech University in September of 1992 in the Payroll office of Human Resources. She became the Federal Work Study Coordinator in 1998 in the Student Financial Aid Office. In 2005 she attended SEE training and joined both NSEA and the SASEA. Having a beginning background in Financial Aid and Student Employment, SEE training answered a lot of her open questions. She has remained active in both organizations, first serving on the SASEA board as Vice President, then President-Elect, President and Past – President, in 2016 she was asked to step back on the board in the position of President then served in 2017 as Past-President and then stepped back in as President in 2018 and now serves as Past-President again. During her first Presidential year she also began serving as a Director on the National Board. The following year she was elected to serve as the VP of Administration. Her next steps on the NSEA Board were President – Elect and then in 2013 the National President. In addition, she co-presented in 2012 with Lynn Hoehn at the SASEA conference and then at the National Association of Student Employment Services (NASES) conference in Manchester, England. She also served as the Scholarship Chair and also on the Ad hoc committee for the hiring of a new NSEA office manager twice. In 2014, she attended Train-the-Trainer and became a regional trainer and then a few years later became a National Trainer. She is currently serving as the SEE Training Coordinator on the SASEA board, and a National Trainer for NSEA. “Both associations mean so very much to me and I will go above and beyond to do whatever is needed to keep them as successful as possible.” On a personal note, she has been married to the love of her life for almost 34 years. They have 3 wonderful children that are all adults and keep her and her husband hopping. Mariah Schroeder – SEE Trainer
Mariah started at the University of Findlay in 2015 in Human Resources and moved into her current role as Human Resource Generalist, Student Employment Coordinator in 2017. She provides assistance to employees in the area of FMLA, ADA, recruiting, time management, onboarding, work study, and Workday. Mariah enjoys assisting all employees but focuses on the engagement and development of student employees. She is a member of both NSEA and MASEA and previously served as the VP of Professional Development for MASEA from 2019 to 2022. Mariah enjoys meeting new people and sharing information to help better student employment.
Tricia Stouder – SEE Trainer
Tricia Stouder works in the Office of Student Financial Aid, serving as Iowa State’s Assistant Director for Work-Study Student Employment. Her educational background includes a BS from Iowa State University and an MS from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her career in non-profilts and higher education has included a variety of “people focused” positions that have allowed her to hone her training and development skills, while balancing policy and regulation. In her current role, she oversees a team managing the work-study outreach and process, including a robust community service program. Through her time in MASEA and NSEA, she has learned the regulations behind maintaining a strong (and compliant) student employment program. She strives to empower those lucky enough to work with student employees to help create transformational learning opportunities through work experiences. Amber Weaver-Shifflett – National SEE Trainer
Amber Shifflett is the Student Employment Manager at James Madison University. She has been in this role for 15 years. Amber leads her team within the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships in training hiring managers, processing hiring paperwork, and guiding student employees through their college years. Through employment opportunities, students are able to acquire tangible work experience while pursuing their educational goals. Amber believes that behind every good student employee is a well-trained supervisor. As a member of SASEA and NSEA, as well as being a SEE trainer for the last 9 years, she plans to prepare student employment administrators to become the best they can be for their student employees and supervisors. Amber brings relatable experiences and humorous examples to her SEE training sessions. In addition to her role as a student employment professional, Amber is in the Adult Degree Program at James Madison University where she is continuing her education in Human Resource Development. Paula McLain – National SEE Trainer
Paula is a Senior Human Resources Generalist and manages the student employment program at Northwest Missouri State University. She also serves as an adjunct faculty member in the School of Business, teaching Principles of Management. She has been a SEE Trainer since 2013 and a National SEE Trainer since 2015. She currently serves as the Vice President of Professional Development for the NSEA Board of Directors. Paula enjoys meeting new people as she trains and sharing information that can assist someone with program improvements.
Kris Parker - SEE Coordinator for NSEA
Kris is the Associate Director of Student Financial Aid (SFA) at Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota. Kris has overseen Carleton's student employment program for SFA since 2013. Carleton's program is supported by Human Resources and Payroll. Kris has been a member of NSEA and MASEA since 2013. In 2022, Kris was awarded MASEA's Student Employment Administrator of the Year. Kris has volunteered with NSEA as their board-appointed P&P support person and most recently as NSEA's SEE Coordinator. Kris received NSEA's Above and Beyond certification in 2019.
